Delete My Data
Request erasure of your email address and submission records from GoPickStack. What we hold, what you can delete yourself, and how to ask.
1.What we hold, and who can delete it
This table exists so you are not left guessing. The last two rows are the important ones: a lot of what this site stores is stored on your own device, not on ours, which changes who can remove it.
Records held, and who deletes them
| Record | Where it lives | Who deletes it |
|---|---|---|
| Newsletter subscription and email address | Our email provider, and an onboarding sequence of 4 emails over the first week | We delete it. Ask below. |
| Tool submission | Submitter email, tool name, website, category, and pitch. Kept in our inbox for up to 24 months | We delete it. Ask below. |
| Sponsorship enquiry | Email, company, package, and message | We delete it. Ask below. |
| Price or deal alert signup | Email and the tool you asked to be alerted about | We delete it. Ask below. |
| Contact form message | Email and message | We delete it. Ask below. |
| AI Copilot questions | Never stored on our servers. A copy is in your own browser so you can see your history | You delete it, by clearing your browser data for this site |
| Shortlist, saved tools, colour theme, dashboard, and any unsent form queue | Your browser only. Never transmitted to us | You delete it, by clearing your browser data for this site |
2.There are no user accounts
You may be looking for a way to log in and close an account. There is not one. This site has no login, no user table, and no stored password, so there is no account record to delete and nothing you can do yourself that we cannot do.
Everything we hold about you came from an email address you typed into a form, or from an inbound message. One email from the address you used is enough for us to find and remove all of it.
3.Clearing your own browser data
A meaningful part of what this site stores is stored in your browser, not on our servers: your shortlist, your saved tools, your colour theme, your Copilot conversation history, and any form submission that was queued while our email service was unavailable.
We never receive that data, which means we cannot delete it for you. You clear it in your browser settings by deleting site data for this domain. In Chrome and Edge that is the padlock or the tune icon in the address bar, then Site settings, then Delete data. In Safari it is the padlock, then Manage Website Data, then Remove. In Firefox it is the padlock, then Clear Cookies and Site Data.
This is logged out on our side. It also clears your consent choice, so you will see the cookie panel again on your next visit.
4.What you can ask us to do
Erasure is the one most people want, but it is one of several.
- Erasure. Remove your email address and any submissions or enquiries associated with it.
- Access. Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy of it in a readable format.
- Correction. Ask us to fix anything inaccurate. If the inaccuracy is in a published review, tell us through the contact page so the correction gets logged publicly rather than just amended in the database.
- Portability. Ask for your data as a machine-readable file you can keep or move elsewhere.
- Objection or restriction. Ask us to stop processing, or to pause it while a disagreement is resolved.
The full statement of these rights, including the lawful basis for each thing we do, is in our Privacy Policy.
5.How to request deletion
Use the form below. It prepares a message and opens your email client, because this site deliberately has no server endpoint that accepts a deletion request, and we would rather that be honest than pretend a form posts somewhere.
If your email client does not open, or you would rather not use a form, just email Muhammad Shadab Shams at hi@gopickstack.com from the address you subscribed with. Tell us you want everything deleted. That is enough and you do not need to fill in anything else.
6.How long it takes
We respond to a GDPR or UK GDPR request within 30 days. Where a request is genuinely complex we may extend it by up to 60 further days, and we will tell you if we do that and why.
We respond to a request under a US state privacy law within 45 calendar days, which is the outer limit those laws set. We aim to finish sooner.
Once you confirm, deletion happens in the live system immediately and is completed across our email provider and any backups within 30 days.
7.How we verify who you are
We do not charge for responding to a privacy request. We verify identity using only the email address you contact us from, so we do not ask for a government-issued document.
We are a small site, so we do not run an account system to check against. We match the address you write from against what we hold. If the request does not obviously match a record, we will ask you for the address you originally used. We will not accept a request forwarded from an address we have never seen, and we will not act on one without confirming first.
8.What happens to the data afterwards
- The live record is removed. Your address is deleted from the email provider's audience and from our inbox records.
- The welcome sequence stops. Any unsent onboarding emails are cancelled. Emails already delivered to your inbox are outside our control and you should delete them from your own mailbox.
- Backups age out. Historical backups overwrite on a rolling cycle and the record disappears from them without action from us.
- We do not keep a suppression copy for marketing. We do not retain a hidden "do not contact" list to email you later. If you want to be sure you will never hear from us again, deleting is enough.
If you subscribed and then deleted, and later re-subscribe, that is a fresh subscription with a fresh consent. We do not treat the old deletion as a permanent block.
9.If we say no
We may decline a request where the law allows it, most often because retaining the record is necessary for a legal claim or because the record is not actually yours to have deleted. We will say which, in writing.
If you disagree, reply and ask us to reconsider. If we still refuse, you have the right to complain to your data protection supervisory authority: in the United Kingdom that is the Information Commissioner's Office, and in the European Union it is the authority in the country where you live. You can complain at any point, and you do not need our permission to do it.
